Second Wind

Concept

The stubbornness to carry on when it starts getting harder — getting back on track, and the second wind that arrives unearned. Not a roar, a refusal.

16 tracks · 39:55

Some climbs aren't planned. They start with heavy feet and a kettle that takes three tries to boil, and somewhere in the middle you stop checking whether it's worth it and just keep going. This album is the music of that turn — the reset, the stride, the moment you let go of the handlebars and the downhill does the rest.

It doesn't pretend the hard part away. It gives it one honest beat, then answers with the thing that actually keeps people going: not a roar, but a refusal. The second wind that shows up unearned, the hill you didn't mean to climb, the view that was always there.

It lands warm. The final stretch is earned, not forced — quiet pride, a body that did the thing, a gratitude that only exists on the far side of a hard climb. For when you need to remember you can carry on.

Tracks

  1. Heavy Feet Groove
    Drift · 1:52

The slow mile before you warm up, when your legs are still asking questions and the answer is just keep moving. Weighted bass moves like a body that's tired but not done. This is the track for the part of the climb where nothing feels light yet.

  2. One More Groove
    Drift · 2:46

A kettle boiled and cooled three times, still coming to a whistle. Domestic persistence — the wooden spoon keeping time, the floorboard counting, nothing in the kitchen giving up on its job. For the moment you decide the next small thing is enough.

  3. A Key Turning Groove
    Drift · 3:06

The familiar lock catching, the plan snapping back into place. A warm pocket that knows where it's going because it's been here before. For getting back on track and finding the groove was never gone.

  4. Hands Off Energize
    Drift · 2:04

A bicycle downhill, hands off the bars, the wind doing the steering now. The second wind that shows up unearned — like a phone ringing right when you'd stopped checking. For the moment effort stops and momentum carries.

  5. Higher Than It Fell Groove
    Drift · 1:54

A ball bouncing back higher than it fell. Warm buoyancy stacking small wins into something that moves on its own. For when momentum starts doing the work.

  6. The Stride Groove
    Drift · 2:00

The shortcut only you know, shoes that remember the route. A walking bassline that matches your stride and asks nothing of you. For nowhere to be but here — and here's got a good beat.

  7. The Top Of The Hill Energize
    Drift · 2:30

The summit you didn't plan to climb, the bench nobody else sits on. Town lights already on below — you just weren't high enough to see them. For the view that was always there, finally in reach.

  8. Shoulders Drop Calm
    Drift · 5:00

The exhale after holding your breath. Shoulders finally remembering to drop, warm light not shadows. For the earned stillness on the far side of a hard climb.

  9. Heavy Feet (Variation) Groove
